Social Skills
Meet Ms. Callahan!
Social skills classes at IMS focus on the individual’s well-being through the promotion and development of ideas, knowledge, attitudes and skills related to self-concept, health and safety, interactions with others and organization for learning.
Through exploring:
Self-concept, students develop an awareness of their feelings, beliefs and behavior. They learn to recognize their
own strengths and weaknesses.
Health and safety, students are encouraged to make healthy lifestyle choices to promote and maintain health. The
development of safe behavior practices at home, school and in the community are considered.
Interactions with others, students develop strategies for managing conflict, as well as the study and acceptance of
cultural, racial and religious similarities and differences.
Organization through learning, students develop strategies and choices related to becoming successful learners.
Please come back soon! I will be posting more info on what students have been learning in their social skills classes, as well as resources for families to use at home. Thank you.
